Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage involves manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress. It also improves the functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injuries and illness.

Massage comes in many forms, including:

  • Swedish – is the most popular type of massage in the United States. It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage.
  • Deep Tissue – this type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (the connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons.
  • Chair massage - helps reduce issues such as neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, and stress or migraine headaches
  • Sports massage - focuses on muscle groups relevant to a particular sport.
  • Myofascial release therapy– is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
